IMG_3739

INGREDIENTS

sweet ham
pineapple slices in juice
brown sugar

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut ham in strips
2. Heat oil and fry ham lightly
3. Add pineapple slices, adding some of its juice, but not so much
4. Add some brown sugar and leave the heat on until the juice reaches a syrupy consistency

When you see sweet ham, you always think of Christmas, but in Pampanga, I discovered when I first started going out with Bon, that it is a common thing for them to have, especially in parties. Anyway, Bon bought me a whole bag of MEKENI ham, one time, and I decided to use 3/4 of the whole chunk to make sweet ham and the rest for healthy sandwiches. Bon loves to have sandwiches after he goes to the gym because he doesn’t really eat so much anymore after that, unless we’re going out for dinner and drinks.

This is not how we have sweet ham at home. During Christmas and New Years, we have large hams on the table that you have to actually carve. But this kind of ham is fine, just the same since all you have to do is to stick your fork on one and put it in your mouth. Haha!
