Chicken Liver Adobo

IMG_2786

INGREDIENTS

chicken liver
garlic, chopped
soy sauce
vinegar
water
laurel leaves, 2 pieces
salt and pepper

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Season liver with salt and pepper
2. Heat oil in pan and saute garlic
3. Add liver
4. Add soy sauce and vinegar
5. Add water and let it simmer until water has reduced to half
6. When the liver is cooked, add the laurel leaves
7. Let it simmer for a little while

Not a lot of people love liver, but I do. In fact, my first boyfriend used to tell people: "I'm allergic to liver" and they stop forcing him to eat. I, being allergic to seafood, found it very amazing. So when I first heard him say it, I asked: "What happens to you?" and he said: "I get grossed out!" Anyway, my sisters don't like liver, as well. So when there's liver at home, it's usually just my parents and I, that eat it --- and that's cool, because that means I get all the "chicken heart".

My first attempt at the chicken liver adobo was very good (that's the picture on top). I want to make it more dry and almost fried, next time, but I don't know how to do that. The second time I cooked it I learned a valuable lesson: leave it be and stop stirring because I ended up breaking most of the liver --- so never do that again, Crickette!
